ABOUT ME

Lihong Chan is a Bay Area native and New York City–based freelance dance artist. She holds a BFA in Dance from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), where she performed with the resident Santa Barbara Dance Theater and the UCSB Dance Company. During her time there, she worked with faculty members Christopher Pilafian, Brandon Whited, and Christina McCarthy, as well as guest choreographer Ephrat Asherie and José Limón reconstructor Alice Condodina.

Since relocating to New York, Lihong has performed at venues including The Joyce Theater and Arts on Site. She was an inaugural member of Limón2, performed as a guest with the José Limón Dance Company, and apprenticed with Lydia Johnson Dance. She also had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Ashley Lindsey, Erin Landers, and Gregory Dolbashian, among others.

In the Bay Area, she danced with ODC Dance Jam, a pre-professional company performing works by Kimi Okada, Brenda Way, and Dexandro Montalvo. She also performed with dNaga, under the direction of Claudine Naganuma, and most recently appeared in Unbound at the UC Davis Mondavi Center.

Lihong is an avid student of Countertechnique and has attended the One Body One Career (OBOC) intensive. She is currently pursuing her MA in Dance Education at Hunter College, deepening her commitment to both performance and pedagogy.​
